Tree cutting for lumber must be sustainable

With Donald Trump announcing today that there will be an import tax of 20% on all lumber imported from Canada I only worry about the effect that will have on the commodity of lumber itself. I am assuming this means the United States will up its production of lumber to offset the costs.

Solution

The art of sustainable deforestation is one of the most important things for the planet. Without trees the CO2 all the 7 billion humans, livestock, animals and other life forms release will never get converted back into Oxygen. Trees have a unique way of storing the CO2 in their trunks and bodies. They release Oxygen which is needed for all life on the planet. We must be smarter than this. Sustainable tree cutting is a very simple, efficient way of doing it but you must plant the trees as you are cutting them down. It should be a mandatory regulation for any tree lumber companies.
